The overall application process is straightforward. Answer a handful of questions, get a quick decision (approval/not), and apply for the card. Free ins policy on the card was the tipping point for me to apply and the cash back bonus is a nice plus. The add ons available were clear and easy to choose. I received the card well ahead of the expected timeframe, which was a nice surprise. I have yet to use the insurance, but the card being tied to initiation of insurance claims is a huge bonus. Jury is out on how the claims process goes, so we shall see.

Our cat Mouse was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma after getting a cyst removed and biopsied. The cyst on his leg was present for a few years prior and had been drained, aspirated and the fluid looked at under a microscope. We were told this cyst was not a problem and to have it removed at his next dental-so that we did. This new cancer diagnosis was shocking and heartbreaking to us. Also shocking and heartbreaking was that MetLife did not have our backs, denied all of our medical claims and left us to pick up the pieces of this nightmare. Mouse was not given a good prognosis without treatment. We pursued chemo right away under the guidance of our vet and oncologist all the while believing the MetLife who we have paid our hard earned money to for a few years now, sent them business by referring two friends, my parents, my sister-would cover this devastation only to blindsighted by a denial for ALL claims relating to his diagnosis. Mouse had two surgeries, many follow ups and ER visits AND chemo treatments ALL of them not covered. MetLife has claimed this ‘cyst’ was pre-existing. We have tried endlessly with the support of our vet and oncologist to explain to them this is NOT a pre-existing condition, this is a NEW diagnosis to no avail. Why have we been paying them for years for them to desert us in the worst of times? My advice to you-please do not choose MetLife, please do not trust MetLife-because at the end of the day they will NOT choose you. We found out the hardest way

It is really hard to change the plan. Somehow, we still have one dog on that we thought we dropped and 2 dogs missing we thought we added. It was also really frustrating not to be able to get a refund for Kenza, partly due to coordinating finding any sort of "death certificate". You finally gave up and closed the file, and sent us a refund of most months of the overpayment, but I think not all.

We have had Trupanion insurance for four years and although our claims have been approved, we have received very little reimbursement due to the deductible structure. It’s very disappointing because the monthly charge keeps going up without the benefit of repayment for services. I would not recommend.

Absolutely disappointed and feeling scammed. I will make sure to warn others.

I like the policy but I dislike that it takes forever to settle my claims.

This company is a complete scam. We had a pre approval letter from them and the still denied claim. And it took 8 weeks to hear back from them. They don’t answer their phones, voice messages, or emails. All they do is take your money. None of our claims have been approved by them. Always a reason not to pay. Will be filing complaint with BBB and canceling policy.
