Prudential Life Insurance - I need to vent (prudential life insurance)
My stepdad passed away mid march, he told me years ago if anything ever happened to him that he had life insurance. The past week ive been trying to figure out his policy number to get more information regarding all of this. I still don’t know his policy # but now have a claim number and they have emailed a document that I need to sign. In order to access those documents I need a “code” which is the date of birth/date of death, unfortunately the first agent got the date of death wrong so I got locked out, they had to resend it again. Today I finally receive the email again, I STILL cannot access it because they keep putting in the wrong date.
Progressive - Help getting the best rate for car insurance
I’m moving from Oregon to Los Angeles & my wage is still quite low, but the move is justified because I should go up in salary much quicker in due time.
I have to change my car insurance over & my rate with Progressive will go from $133 for comprehensive to about $400.
What insurance do I really need in the event of an accident & how can I lower this cost as low as possible? Anyone have really cheap rates with other companies? Car is a 2015 Nissan Altima.
Ladder - Quote seems very high
I'm a 38/f with 3 young kids. I did an online application for term life insurance (no exam) with Ladder for 750k/30yr. I have no medical issues other than familial high cholesterol controlled with statin, non smoker, no pre-existing conditions etc. They quoted me at 117 a month. I know no exam is generally higher than traditional, but this seems off to me. Is it me, or is this very high? Could the cholesterol be that much of a factor?
Aflac - Aflac calendar year?
I submitted a claim for a Wellness Benefit. Date of service: Feb. 2025
Aflac denied the claim on the grounds that a Wellness Benefit had already been paid out this calendar year.
But the last Wellness Benefit had been for a date of service in November 2024, so last year.
The only way I can figure it is that my policy began in May 2015, and that by "calendar year" they mean May-to-April, not January-to-December.
Or.... are they wrong to deny my claim?
Healthy Paws - Healthy Paws Customer Service
I understand this is the world in which we now live, but it appears HP has outsourced all their customer service. Thankfully I rarely have to contact them, but when I do it's not exactly for 'scripted' issues. Has anyhow had any luck getting non-outsourced CS? It used to be, "hi thank you for calling healthy paws, this is Beyonce in Houston, how may I help you?" ...but, now it's not. And Beyonce was a lot more knowledgeable and if she couldn't answer the question she found someone who could. Now it's just replies being read from a script with little to no understanding of how certain claims/reimbursements/etc. even work. It's more than a tad frustration and definitely a lot more time consuming.
Aetna - Same provider, same service (acupuncture). Why did Aetna deny coverage for one visit out of six?
I have Aetna with acupuncture coverage. I had seen a provider 6 times, 3 times in 2023 and 3 times in 2024. All of the visits were coded CPT Code 97811 and CPT Code 97810. In 2024, I saw the provider in January, June, and July. For some reason, the visit in June was denied and Aetna said it was experimental. But the provider billed using the exact same code as before and after June 2024. All other claims had been paid.
I'm at a stage of appealing this decision. But I'm wondering if anyone has any insights into why a claim would randomly be deemed experimental when it was paid as normal otherwise?
Fetch - I’m afraid I’m going to get dropped.
My 14 month old cat has been to the emergency vet twice since we adopted her a year ago. 8 weeks ago she went in for swallowing a button. She had been vomiting all day. Luckily it came out naturally after she spent the day hospitalized with an iv to hydrate her. Last week she started vomiting again. I’ve been traumatized but the fact that she swallowed a button, my best friend’s cat had to have surgery to removed a nerf ball, and my other best friend’s cat had to actually be put down for eating the rubber off of swimming goggles, he had other issues and they didn’t think he would survive the surgery. All this happened since my cat first went in 8 weeks ago. So I probably should have given my cat a few more hours to see if she would stop vomiting. Turns out she had suspected gastritis. Now I’m afraid that we will get dropped from Fetch insurance if I submit the last claim. Should I submit the claim? Will I get into trouble if I don’t submit it?
TD Insurance - Could I possibly be reimbursed for the deductible I paid, since I was not at fault in the accident?
[Ontario, Canada] Might not be the best place to ask this, but I was unable to find anywhere else.
Following a car accident that was not my fault, my vehicle was totaled. My insurance provider, TD Insurance, paid off the car loan, and during the process, the agent proposed deducting my deductible from their payment to the finance company, with the understanding that they would later recover this amount from the other party's insurance. However, almost six months have passed, and I have yet to receive the deductible reimbursement. When I inquired, the TD agent explained that they have had difficulty contacting the other insurance company, citing a recent instance where they were on hold for over an hour without success. As this is my first experience with such a situation, I would appreciate guidance on how to proceed.
Liberty Mutual - Advice for non fault accident
I’m confused and need some advice on my current situation. I was involved in a rear end accident, not at fault. Car is drivable with a minor dent in the trunk and paint chipped. The facts:
- car is a 2014 Lexus es 350
- The person at fault has Liberty Mutual
- initial estimate from their in network shop was $2100
- after they began working on it the supplement charges ended up close to $8700 after being in the shop for about a week and having a rental
Today I got a call saying that the car was deemed total loss because cost to repair is over the 75% threshold. I still owe on it the car. What options do I have? Could I take it to another shop to get a lower estimate? There current labor charges were over $5k. I feel like as the victim of this I’m still getting the bad deal by not only losing my drivable car but also potentially paying out of pocket for the gap and rental. What should I do?
Geico - Am I getting scammed or is this normal?
I posted here a couple days ago about a stolen motorcycle (thank you all for reminding me not to commit fraud) and I called Geico about some questions I had. The told me I could get the collision and comprehensive policy right now, after the theft, and if the person who stole my motorcycle gets into a crash with a stationary object or another car and the motorcyclist is at fault I could be compensated. I got qouted for the coverage and it's $4,717.62! I paid $791.07 originally and the new total will be $5,508.69. I'm assuming since this policy covers the vehicle its more but $4,717.62 is absolutely crazy. I don't think I will be getting the policy at this point because of the depreciation on the bike makes it worth around $8,000 and the insurance would be almost half what the bike is worth. Even at rates of a new rider that seems fairly high. I apologize for the rant,
QUESTION: Is this a normal quote for the policy on a motorcycle or is that something because I am a new rider?
