Trupanion - Reposting - No Insurance Co Reps, Employees or Vet Replies Please - Consumers Only
Hello, We've had Trupanion a few years and it's an excellent product; we don't appreciate the way their representatives do business at times.
Is there another business doing coverage that pays vets directly, when going to a participating vet, for accidents? Trupanion doesn't cover wellness and that's fine.
There are some in the UK, hopefully the states catches upR
State Farm - Storm damage company, shady or legitimate?
House that was built in 1989 has water stains on all the 2nd story ceilings which are getting worse every time it rains. The roof is visibly messed up, losing shingles. Siding and gutters have never been replaced. Visible hail damage, plus the vents on top of the roof have dents all in them.
I live with my senior mother whose coworker has a son who works for a roofing/restoration company. The guy came out, inspected our house and took over a hundred pictures. Said we need a new roof, siding and gutters. We put in a claim with State Farm homeowners insurance, he said to put we have damage from June of 2024. Even though we've had more storms and tornados since that date.
State farm then sent an inspector woman who barely looked at anything, the company this door to door storm chaser guy works for was there. They didn't seem to show her much of anything. The inspector was here less than a half hour and I didn't answer the doorbell. The company who would be paid for replacing things nailed a tarp on to a small part of our roof without asking or informing us.
The inspector determined only 2 shingles need repairing! Nothing else. She also emailed my mother the decision, saying it was nice to meet her. My mother did not meet this woman and no one who lives here did.
Now the guy who inspected our house initially is saying we weren't denied and we have a roof that is no longer made. It's a 3 panel shingle roof and he claims those shingles are no longer produced. He's telling my mother to take State Farm's offer of fixing the 2 shingles. That they'll send them off for testing and once they find out these shingles are no longer made, insurance will cover a new roof. A simple Google search shows I can go buy 3 panel shingles at every home improvement store nearby.
Is this guy scamming my senior mother? Will State Farm actually replace the entire roof after testing shingles? I'm a single solo mom to a disabled child who has to live with my mother and I feel we're getting taken advantage of. She thinks we're not since she works with this guy's mom and she's easily taken advantage of.
Help please, any input would be highly appreciated!
State Farm - How to handle insurance issue r/t auto accident. Brother w/ traumatic brain injury now being denied coverage for his medication/appointments.
Hi all, years ago my brother was hit by an auto while he was on a bicycle. His auto insurance (State Farm) covered the meds r/t accident and any appointments. Every few years they would send him in for a reevaluation IPE so this time the person that did the Psych evaluation said he was over exaggerating his issues and that even though he has a traumatic brain injury he no longer qualifies to have his medication covered. He deals with/ depression, headaches, insomnia, the only med that is being covered is for his antidepressant. Im not sure how to advise him. Do we go back to the original attorney? Do we fight it? If so, how does that normally play out? My brother's accident happened over 15 years ago. He was not at fault. Even though all of his testing showed significant damage and he has never returned to his baseline, has poor memory, can't think when there are loud noises, and is now doing "manual" work vs. owning a business that he had to give up. Any help would be wond
Wawanesa Insurance - Update: Wawanesa Insurance Cancellation – Broker Responded, But Now I’m Facing $2,500+ Upfront Cost to Switch
Hey everyone,
This is a follow-up to my earlier post about trying to cancel my Wawanesa auto insurance (I’m the guy paying $750/month for a commercial plan meant for Uber Eats, which I barely do anymore). My regular broker had gone silent for a while, but I finally got in touch.
Here’s the update:-
My broker confirmed I can cancel the policy early.
However, he says I’ll have to pay two months' worth of premium upfront as a penalty — that’s around $1,500.
The new policy I’m eyeing (with TD Bank) is non-commercial and about $450/month, but they also require 2 months paid upfront to start coverage — that’s another $900.
So basically, to switch policies, I’d need to cough up $2,400–$2,500 upfront, just to get out of this $750/month cycle.
Now I’m stuck asking myself:
Is it even worth switching, or should I just suck it up and keep paying monthly till my current policy ends in November?
Will I even save enough in the long run to justify the upfront hit?
Has anyone else dealt with a similar situation — switching from commercial to personal auto insurance mid-term?
Any creative options or negotiation tips I could try with either Wawanesa or TD?
I’m still trying to be financially smart here — just don’t want to end up spending more just to spend less later. Appreciate all your input!
Progressive - car stolen, recovered and I want to keep it, lein holder wants it totaled
Hi
Last month I bought an older truck after having it 2 days it stolen from in front of my apartment in SE Portland OR. I filed a cliem, the car was recovered, YAY! Not so fast. The adjustor decided the car was not worth repair. Progressive called the leinholder and they decided to total the car. As a person that used to be a mechanic I wanted the car because I could fix it for less than 1500. When I called the lender I was told, "it is better for me and better for you". The lender is wanting me to pay the difference between the orig loan amount and what insurance pays.
My position is, the lender take what is offered, apply it to the balance and I continue to make the payments. He will get his money, I'll get the car and we are both happy. The issue is, I didnt have the chance to explain that to the lender (buy here pay here lot) the decision to total the car was made without speaking to me about it.
What are my rights?
State Farm - State Farm customer service line connects me to someone having a random conversation?
I go through the prompts, I get connected to someone, and I just hear a conversation between two people talking about random things that I can barely make out. They don’t respond to me so I hang up and try again, same thing. What is actually going on? Do customer service reps just answer and then ignore people so they’ll hang up?
Odie Pet Insurance - Odie Pet Insurance is a SCAM
**Odie is taking my monthly money and not holding up their end of the bargain.**
I was switched to Odie from ManyPets when ManyPets sold and want the world to know: ODIE IS A SCAM. GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN & DEF DON'T SIGN UP.
Aside from the significant increase in monthly cost and 20k coverage limit on a previously unlimited plan, Odie is...nowhere to be found. My claims are not being processed, nobody answers the phone, the chatbot isn't responsive, and I literally cannot get any information.
**I've filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau, providing screenshots of everything. Anyone else???**
Progressive - Follow up on out of state student car insurance
So, in December my son took one of our cars from Florida to Virginia for university. VA required limits are much higher than in FL and changing the limits, plus garaging the car in VA, raised our Progressive policy to almost 3 times it's cost.
Instead, it was suggested by the insurer we get a different policy for the car in VA. And we did so, through Geico.
Now we have 1 policy in VA for my son and I and 1 car. One policy in FL for my son and I and the other car.
Today, I received a notice from the state of FL that they are going to cancel my registration because the Cadillac (car in VA under Geico policy) doesn't have insurance, according to their records). Sigh.
Will FL accept the VA policy? I can't really register the car in VA since I don't live there and the car is in my name. And both the kid and I have FL licenses because he is a student, so his residence is still FL.
Is the only solution to pay 3 times the amount?
Blue Cross Blue Shield - BCBS royalty screwed me over & I have no idea what to do, anyone else experience this?
I’m sorry if this doesn’t make sense or for any errors, I am in shock. I have a state specific BCBS under my parents (meaning I’m the dependent). Last year after I moved out of state, they told me that they cover providers out of state. I’ve never had an issue with this. Now, I’m getting claims that I owe $700, $2,000, etc for every visit I’ve had this year (I have a chronic condition so, lots of visits). Turns out, our plan doesn’t cover out of state anymore. Were any of us informed of this? Haha no of course not silly! When did it start? Last year, ya know, when they were still telling me I was covered. I found these providers on the insurance website which is the big kicker & I had no idea bc I assumed “found on insurance website + office taking insurance + no bills yet = I’m covered”, but apparently I’m just that stupid. I even called to ask about providers. Now I owe $6,000+ that I don’t have. I’m in my 20s & in constant pain. I can’t afford not going to work despite hurting & not being able to breathe & now it seems like I can’t even afford living. They said the only thing I can do is submit a bunch of appeals saying I didn’t know about the policy change. I can’t go see doctors anymore. My job doesn’t provide insurance. If I want a plan that covers my health problems, it would be a minimum of $400/month which is insane. I don’t know what to do. Anyone else experience this?
Progressive - Progressive | Snapshot
Received my 6-month renewal notice for Progressive and suprise () a 20% increase.
Problem is I use Snapshot, have 4/5 average, which I thought yields an additional discount, not an increase.
I called. Progressive claims rates go up/down all the time and can not give me specific reason for this increase. My 4/5 average Snapshot is already included in new rate.
Is this practice common, follow *their* Snapshot rules - get increase ??
