Embrace - Thinking of switching pet insurance
Renewal time is coming up soon and realized I never changed our address since we recently moved back to NY after living in RI. Well it’s going from $36 for my 5 year old cat to $60 a month. Overall she’s a very healthy kitty, the only health issue is she has asthma so I get that and I know as they get older it’s more costly cause of healthcare for them and providing services is expensive. Embrace has been great overall experience for us because we had to put one of our other cats down last year and they compensated us almost entirely but, I just wasn’t expecting because of the zip code to justify $60 every month now. Does anyone have any suggestions on our insurances if I’d be saving money elsewhere?
Geico - Home insurance went through the roof
I was paying my mortgage online, noticed that mortgage paid my hazard insurance at $4860, when I was paying like $2800 prior year, called agent and asked Wtf, 10 days later he got it to 3800/yr, cars at Geico because best rate, Went to GEICO for homeowners and bundled with my car insurance now $2,680. Also GEICO takes 10minutes to get a quote.
Embrace - Embrace almost doubling premium
My monthly premium with Embrace was $54 a month and I just got a notice it will be $93 a month. This is an obscene increase. My pet is an almost 8 year old male cat I have had since he was 2. He has been in great health with no issues. I’ve had embrace since I got him.
Should I get new pet insurance? I’ve seen really mixed reviews about embrace being a scam. There is absolutely no justification for this premium increase in my opinion, but I’d like it get other thoughts.
Embrace - Embrace Issues
I’ve used Embrace for over 11 years for my 4 pound chihuahua. Overall, it was a great experience. Dog is mostly healthy, has had 2 knee surgeries, but that’s it. I have cap on amount 15k per year, and an affordable deductible….until now. Just got notice today that they are upping my premiums 107% per month next year bc reasons?!?!? It’s now a small mortgage w/o explanation or justification. Has this been happening to anyone else? Is this increase legal? Is there anything that can be done about it? Insurance sucks in general, but seems extremely predatory to take my free money all these years, just f me when my boy, who could easily live to be 20, gets older. Almost begging me to cancel the policy.
Carmoola - Faulty on Finance
I got a BMW from Auto Trader in October. The garage I got it from was dodgy as fuck but the car seemed fine. After 3 weeks oil all over my drive way, since then been in and out with constant problems. (Engine coolant system failure, new control module, new turbo with new gaskets and turbo actuator).
I took the car to my regular garage since the one I got it from was dodgy (I understand now this was a mistake), I phoned the original garage and since I never took it in to them they’re saying there’s nothing they will do. Since Christmas I’ve had the car for 13 days, have it a couple days then in the garage it goes, constant problems. None of this is my fault, the garage has confirmed this, I know how to look after a car.
£4,000 roughly in garage costs. Plus the money i’ve been spending on finance etc on a car I do not have.
Can anyone please give advice on anything I can do to be reimbursed on some of the money I’ve spend since none of this is my fault and the car is so recently in my possession. I have been in touch with finance company (Carmoola) just waiting for the final receipts from garage to forward them.
parents' insurance company - Drivers license being suspended due to not being covered by my parents insurance.
What Should I Do?
A few weeks ago, I was in a car accident while driving my parents' car that I wasn’t in fault. When I called my parents insurance company they told me i wasn’t covered by their insurance policy and didn't say anything and said to call the other party to solve this they didn't informed me on any of the steps so I assumed that I have to only call the other persons insurance. I wasn’t covered under my parents insurance, as they excluded me from due to not having 3 years o experience and I had no idea how much this would impact me. This was totally my fault for not being informed. My parents don’t speak good English and the language barrier wasn’t clear whether they added me or removed me from their policy. I'm a full time student taking 30 units this spring and currently I live with my boyfriend near my campus and visit my parents about once a month. That day, I just wanted to go to the gym and didn't think much about it so I drove myself since my parents were busy. I never thought that one small decision could turn into something so overwhelming. I’ve only been driving for a year, and this is the first time anything like this has ever happened to me. I didn’t even know that I was supposed to notify the DMV if the accident caused more than $1,000 in damage. I’ve tried everything I called my parents’ insurance company, I called the DMV to request a hearing but they told me there’s nothing I can do because I wasn’t covered. Now, I’m facing the possibility of having my license suspended, and I feel completely lost.
Is there *any* way to stop this from happening? I don’t want one mistake to take away my ability to drive. If anyone has advice or knows what I can do, I’d truly appreciate it.
Trupanion - Am I getting fleeced? (Trupanion)
When we adopted our dog (now 6 years old and 44 lbs, a mix of at least 5 different breeds) we took out what I considered to be a “catastrophic plan” to insure her and help us avoid difficult healthcare financial decisions when she grows old, or sooner (though hopefully not). The policy has a $1,000 lifetime deductible per injury/illness and no maximum benefit. When we took out the policy it was $25.03/month. It is now up to $57.15/month.
A 128% increase over 6 years feels pretty steep, especially when she’s statistically speaking less than 1/2 of her way through her expected lifespan.
Should I be regularly shopping around the same way one does with auto or homeowners insurance, or are the chances that I will find a better value now that she’s 6 low? I remember reading when I took out the policy that with pet insurance it’s better to insure early when the dog’s health risk is very low to “lock in” a low rate and picked Trupanion because at the time they advertised modest premium increases being a feature that differentiated them among their competitors. I don’t feel like 128% over 6 years is modest, and if the increases continue to increase at the accelerated rate they have been doing so, I feel like it may be worth surveying the field to see what else is out there.
I like her coverage and feel that it works for our financial situation. (We are fortunate that we can afford regular wellness visits and any unexpected medical items < $1,000).
TIA!
Florida Blue Cross - Doctor sent sample to out of network lab
I asked the Doc to send a simple urine sample to Quest. My insurance covers 100% labs with Quest. Today I see on my Florida Blue Cross account they sent it to a different lab and my portion is $3170. What to do?
Geico - Gap from dealer with geico
I bought a almost new used camry and i almost got into a huge wreck this last weekend, pretty much I was fishing and this drunk idiot sideswiped my friends car with his boat while pushing his empty trailer nearly off the cliff towards the river, thankfully the hitch stayed locked in we were able to drive it to safety minus scratches either way they exchanged information.
Afterwards, we were talking about it. I still owe almost 30k for my brand new camry even if I didn't notice who the driver was
Would there be any way that gap would cover my car if it were to have fallen or got heavly damaged due to the small cliff?
I.had previous vandalism to my car last year and it was a headache through insurance
Choice Home Warranty - Choice Home Warranty scam
Basically myself and many many others have been scammed by this company. They have you pay the fee for diagnostics and then say they won't cover the item needing replaced. They offered me $500 for my washing machine replacement when the part alone for my machine was $2000. Here is a link to all the issues https://www.reddit.com/r/choicehomeclassaction/s/lijqv0C3xu
Do we have a class action or should we all small claims court them? Who would I list (the ceo?) As the person on the complaint? They are already under investigation if you check the BBB website. Any advice or guidance would help.
