Bristol West - Need help regarding insurance
Edit: Total amount that was for the insurance that month was like $400 something. I think around $430. Not sure if that has something to do with it
Hey so I had gotten my car back a couple of months ago. To put it short, for some dumbass reason my ass didn't think I would need insurance to take the car off the lot and didn't factor that into it, as the last time I gotten a car I went to a shady shitty dealership which let me drive off with just liability. So I had set myself up with Bristol West. Thing is I did not have the money for the insurance but it went through because I did an option that would collect over a few days. It showed as active for me to collect my car. Anyways immediately like a day or two later, I decide to go with Progressive which was much cheaper and canceled my plan with Bristol by calling them. (I used Bristol to pick up my car but then changed it to Progressive and they took that) After it got canceled I got some mail saying that I owe $110.
Now question. I do know that say if you cancel mid-cycle or early they give like a "refund" or don't make you pay the whole amount. My question is, does $110 seem right for literally using them for about a day or so. Keep in mind they couldn't even charge me but it showed my acc as active. Active enough to try and get my car. Does anyone have any experience with this? How do they decide how much to charge you when you cancel, Does it matter when you cancel or they just give you a rate which you have to pay. I just realized that they sent it to debt collections and want it.
Budget Car Rental - Budget Car Rental Won’t Refund “Loss of Use” Charges Despite Insurance Paying in Full—$1050 Withheld for Months!
I’m looking for advice on how to get Budget Car Rental to refund me $1050 that they wrongfully charged me for “loss of use,” even though my insurance fully settled the claim.
Timeline & Issue:
• Sept 22 – I was in an accident with a Budget rental.
• Oct 17 – Budget charged me $1050 on my personal credit card for “loss of use.”
• Feb (First Week) – My insurance fully settled the claim, and I have a signed release letter from Budget’s claims department confirming everything is paid for.
• Now (March) – Despite multiple follow-ups, Budget still hasn’t refunded my money.
What I’ve Done So Far:
1. Emailed Budget—Sent a detailed request with the signed release letter proving all charges were covered by insurance.
2. Called Customer Service Twice—Each time, they escalated it to the billing department and told me to wait 5–7 business days.
3. No Refund, No Response—Every time I follow up, I get ghosted or asked to wait again.
Why This Matters:
I am a student, and $1050 is a huge amount for me to have tied up for months. Budget has been unresponsive, and I don’t know what to do next.
What Are My Options?
• Has anyone faced a similar issue and successfully gotten a refund?
• Should I escalate this via a chargeback, BBB complaint, small claims court, or another method?
• Any suggestions on getting Budget’s attention and making them act faster?
MetLife - Should I switch over to Metlife?
Not your standard switching question, honestly. My partner got a job that offers metlife so our 2 dogs are eligible to switch over to metlife from our current insurance. We have petsbest currently. I already checked and there's no concerns about it being my partners work (and only I am currently on my the petsbest insurance). I spoke with metlife on the phone extensively so I can switch anytime basically, i'm mostly wondering reasons I might want to stay vs not.
Both my dogs have quite a few medical conditions and Petsbest has generally done due diligence. I insured my pit mix in Jan 2022 when I got him and they've covered almost everything. (Annual premiums: 2022 was 460, 2023 was 560, 2024 was 725, and this year was 1032. 250 deductible, 90% reimbursement, unlimited level). They denied only one claim. They denied something and considered it alternative. Even tho it's supplied by a teaching hospital, has studies, and the doctor wrote a huge letter explaining why it was the only option for my dog (my dog has multiple concurrent co-morbidities). They still said no. I asked before hand but they wouldn't pre approve and when I said I was concerned bc it was a big bill they just said I could always appeal. I did, and even with a super detailed letter, nothing. However, he has MANY medical conditions- allergies (on apoquel, immunotherapy, regular derm visits), anxiety (on a couple medications), hip dysplasia/OA and IVDD (on meds and may need surgery). So they've more than paid for his medical conditions.
Second dog we adopted in Sept 2024 and she was a 500 deductible, 90% reimbursement and 816/yr. Ended up in 12k in bills between emergency surgery, post op complications and follow up labs. They've paid up. We had to appeal one thing but successfully this time.
Petsbest has been fine and paid and processed, though slow, which is fine.
I'm mostly considering metlife as both dogs are on prescription foods and metlife will cover wellness care. I could get both dogs annual dentals (which i always planned to do, but was considering pushing it out to 1.5 years out when I'll get a better dental price at a new employer), get tick and flea prevention covered! (200 for one dog, 220 for the other). The prescription foods for the dogs run me about 70 every 1.5-2 months. I'm seriously considering it but feel like there may be something I'm missing. The company confirmed they'd cover rx food even tho petsbest doesnt, btw. Same with dental cleanings.
These were their quotes and I was planning to go with the most expensive one, tbh:
* Family plan: 250 deductible, 90%, unlimited was 2108.92 without wellness
* With wellness: 2938.44
* Family plan: 500 deductible, 90%, unlimited was 1783.25 without wellness
* With wellness: 2469.98
* Family plan: 250 deductible, 80%, unlimited
* with wellness: 2047.84
* Family plan: 500 deductible, 80%, unlimited
* with wellness: 1728.52
Would love any insight and opinions.
State Farm - State Farm changed my roof claims date of loss and screwed everything up.
Ugh. So a couple of weeks ago there was a crazy wind storm in my state. I had some roof damage so I got it inspected by a roofing company who told me most of the damage was from hail, which was enough for a replacement. I was told to put in a storm claim with a date of loss for the last hailstorm in 2024. I put in the claim with state farm and I was very careful to tell them that the date of loss was for 6/25/24 and it was for storm damage. I received an email after I submitted the claim and the email says "Date of Incident: 6/25/24". 4 days later the claim is assigned to an adjuster, and we schedule an inspection. Today he comes out for the inspection and he has the date of loss as 3/14/25 and wind damage. He said he cannot make any changes and tells me to put in another claim. Claim is denied because of not enough wind damage. Again, I was very careful when I put in the claim and I never said anything about wind damage or a date of loss of 3/14/25.
Somehow the claim details and date of loss were changed between the time I put in the claim and the time it was assigned. I still have documentation (an email) that shows the date of incident of 6/25/24, but if I look at the claim online it shows 3/14/25. My local agent is supposedly working on this but I'm not too optimistic. What are the chances this can be resolved and I won't have to put in a second claim that will potentially cause negative effects to me? UGHHH
Delta Dental - Delta Dental
This has happened twice now where I have received my EOB in the mail, panic because it says I owe several hundred dollars still, and then when I check my billing with my dentist it says that insurance has covered everything and I don't owe anything other than what I paid the day of my visit.
If the office isn't billing me anything extra, then I'm fine right? Is my dentist just good at negotiating with Delta Dental?
Clements Insurance - Clements Insurance?
Has anyone used Clements Insurance? I'll be in Bangkok for 6 months to a year and I'm looking for full coverage on expensive personal property. They say they provide that coverage, but saying and doing....
Pets Best - Pets best. I am very angry
So this may slightly be my fault but I need to vent and need options. I have had pets best for 2 years. My golden retriever blew her ACL and I took her to a surgeon and they confirmed it. The entire process took 5 months. I called pets best to see how to proceed, they said to pay the bill and then send everything to them. So I did.
They just came back and said that they will not reimburse me because I don’t wait 6 months to have the surgery. WTF!!! and why would you not tell me when I called to ask how to proceed?!?
Am I just out of luck? Or do you think that this is worth fighting? I am out $7k now. This is why I had pet insurance in the first place!!!
Geico - Got into an Accident and police say we were both guilty will this damage my credit score ?
I was At a stop and some lady came up speeding to turn on where I was. When the police came she told them that she didnt see me and that a i blew the horn but she was too late. She hit my car and i had to pay 2,000 dóllar to fix my car. The police say we were both At fault but i told him i never move from the stop and that i was going to make a right turn when I saw her but i never was able to move. He made us both guilty. A few month later i revive a letter from geico saying i own them like 10,000. Will this kill my credit score? I dont have that money to pay. I have check my credit and i see nothing but am afraid they will put on my credit soon or later. Its being months already. It was back in january.
Nationwide - Nationwide dropped us - help!
I have a 4-year-old French Bulldog, and we previously used Nationwide for her pet insurance. Unfortunately, we just found out they dropped our policy without any reason. I have been looking around for other pet insurance companies but feel frustrated by the pre-existing condition coverage. We signed up for trupanion but they want records of our last 2 years and my pet has a few things in the notes that I think will totally screw us going forward like itchy paws, a hurt pack, and previous GI bugs/UTIs. Has anyone found a good insurance company that will not be so harsh about not covering pre-existing conditions? Thanks in advance for the recommendations!
Star Health - Beat Health Insurance for Women in India
Hey Folks so I'm 30+, I had Star Health insurance earlier however I don't see that they are updated on offer good enough health claims for women specifically. I'm searching for a good insurance which caters to medical needs of women 30+ and over where things like Ovarian cancer shots, PCOS/Fybroid related surgery etc can be claimed. I had a very tough time convincing the policy manager at Star bazar to accept my claim for the same while it was a procedure suggested by the doctor herself. But clearly they seem to know my body better than the actual doctor (LOL)
Could you recommend some insurance companies that do cater in the above factors and have better facilities available especially for women.
