Airbnb - AirBnB Host lied about conflict with AirBnB
Location: Indiana
I recently booked an Airbnb for a month. The day I was set to check in to the room I was staying in the host, who is live overseas in the EU, called me and goes into a story about how he is in a conflict with AirBnB and that due to this conflict AirBnB won’t give him any of the money that people pay to stay at his rental, he doesn’t really go into any real specific details other than that. I was desperate for a place to stay so I don’t really ask a lot of questions in that moment. He says that he will call AirBnB customer service to get a refund and then I can pay him the same amount I payed on AirBnB to his PayPal account after I’ve received the refund. I agree and I await my refund from AirBnB. I receive it and I payed him through PayPal as discussed.
Around 3 weeks I start having various issues with the host, he’s calling me, stars saying I’ve got to do this and that, nothing illegal just various things like take pictures of the place to ensure his agent is keeping the place clean and making the repairs he is supposed too. I refused but I thought this was odd so I did a court records search on him and that’s when I uncovered that he was lying about the extent of the conflict with Airbnb. In fact he doesn’t have a conflict with AirBnB at all, he has a judgement against him and an order was issued to AirBnB to withhold all of the money from the hosts rental to and instead give that money to whom the money on the judgement is owed. I’m floored by this because I never would have agreed in the payment arrangement had I known the truth.
I think what the host is doing is wrong and I’d like to go to the local attorney of those who have been awarded the judgement and/or AirBnB’s legal team to fill them in on the situation. My only concern is that I’ve somehow become complicit in this guys scheme through the payment arrangement and I could be putting myself in legal trouble as well. I want to do the right thing but I also don’t want to screw myself over in the process.
Are my concerns valid? If so could I possibly work out a deal with the local attorney and/or AirBnBs legal team to be immune from any recourse for my cooperation in presenting evidence in this guys scheme to get around the order put in place to pay the judgement?
I appreciate any input on this situation I’ve found myself in.
American Credit Acceptance - How do I go about refinancing a Car loan/ Should I even be considering that?
So, I bought a car (my first ever car beside what was passed down to me) in Dec 2024, mind you I'm not a very materialistic guy when it comes to cars, so year did not mean much to me. The reason I bought the car was that my 74 chevy deluxe gave out and I needed a car asap for work. I am 24, My credit score at the time was a 686 and is slowly going higher. With no cosigner, my age, credit and job that makes me 40k yearly I figured APR would be a bit high but not this high especially for the car I received.
Now for the car loan info:2007 corolla 56k miles at $11k
Total car loan was I believe 20k for the 72 months
The interest rate is 24.10% (prior to signing anything the salesmen stated it was only 12%, I should have read more but I was over the lengthy session, Lesson learned sadly)
The loan is through AmericanCreditAcceptance. Anything with American, I know I am being screwed potentially.
As the guy was shining through my foolishness, he stated I could have refinanced withing 4-6 mths after purchase if i wanted to but fear of looking more foolish is preventing me to do so. Should I be looking to refinance, and if so, how do I go about doing that?

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois - Why am I paying so much?
My husband and I signed up for BCBS of Illinois PPO+ plan through his work this year. I started seeing a physiatrist who was in network. When my claim was submitted, they only approved a discount from $360 to $219 leaving me having to pay $219 out of pocket. I previously had United Healthcare from my last company and with that insurance my physiatry appointments were only $30. I have read through our policy agreement but have to admit, I have no idea what I am reading. Can someone help explain what is different between my currently BCBS plan that only approves a discount vs other plans who only make you pay the co-pay? Thank you!

Hanover - Screwed by Hanover on a collision claim. What are my options?
In May, I rearended another vehicle. My fault, I'm a dumbass. The damage was to my left front bumper, which was pushed back into the tire, the left front fender, and left headlamp. At the scene, the truck was not drivable due to the bumper being pushed into the tire, so I called a tow truck. The tow driver showed up and offered that rather than towing, he could hook his winch to the front bumper and pull it out to make the truck drivable again. I was good with that plan and it saved money for the insurance company on the tow bill. A couple days later, I take the truck to the insurance company's DRP shop. I told them all of the above.
A couple weeks go by, I go to pick the truck up. They fixed everything EXCEPT the left fender, saying that the damage was unrelated due to a "soft impact". No one from the insurance company ever called to discuss. In reality, the fender looked dented in from partial reformation when the bumper was winched out. But again, no one ever called for the partial denial of damages and just left it to the body shop to tell me.
So I filed a DOI complaint citing the lack of investigation by the adjuster. The DOI rep never called me but closed the case, stating that the insurance company did nothing wrong. The DOI letter cited the appraisal clause in the policy, however, at this point I'm more angry about the lack of communication and investigation by the adjuster as it was very shoddy and incomplete work. I also don't think hiring an appraiser would be particularly effective in arguing related damages (but maybe I'm wrong?). I don't think I'm able to sue over damages due to the appraisa clause in the policy but would prefer to sue for bad faith. Or maybe I should just walk away and pay to have my fender repaired? Anyone have experience here or ideas on what I should do?

Carmoola - Faulty on Finance
I got a BMW from Auto Trader in October. The garage I got it from was dodgy as fuck but the car seemed fine. After 3 weeks oil all over my drive way, since then been in and out with constant problems. (Engine coolant system failure, new control module, new turbo with new gaskets and turbo actuator).
I took the car to my regular garage since the one I got it from was dodgy (I understand now this was a mistake), I phoned the original garage and since I never took it in to them they’re saying there’s nothing they will do. Since Christmas I’ve had the car for 13 days, have it a couple days then in the garage it goes, constant problems. None of this is my fault, the garage has confirmed this, I know how to look after a car.
£4,000 roughly in garage costs. Plus the money i’ve been spending on finance etc on a car I do not have.
Can anyone please give advice on anything I can do to be reimbursed on some of the money I’ve spend since none of this is my fault and the car is so recently in my possession. I have been in touch with finance company (Carmoola) just waiting for the final receipts from garage to forward them.
Spot - Looking for pet insurance
My cat is getting up there in age so now I'm trying to find a good pet insurance for her. I'm mainly looking for one that would also cover dental. I've been looking at Spot, but lots of people have said it's a scam, and from what I've heard AKC insurance doesn't cover dental.

Covered California - Recently moved to California
Brother moved to California on Thursday and immediately needed emergency services. Covered California's website says people can enroll within 60 days of moving here but the social worker at the hospital says he can't apply to medi-cal because he's not been a resident for 60 days. We've been getting conflicting information. I'm hoping I can find some help/clarification here. He's early 40s and has no income
