Progressive - Progressive Snapshot
Hello,
I'm new to having car insurance, when I enrolled progressive the asked me to enroll in snapshot to get "an special discount" after signing up and realizing the app had to run always on the background I deactivated it. The thing is I've been getting emails from them saying reactivate it to keep your discount. Is it really worth it to have it activated? I've seen some people saying their rate actually went up by having it on.
Trupanion - Trupanion increase yet again: at what point should I just self-insure?
Full background:
I have had both my dogs insured by Trupanion for several years now, both since they were pups. One will be 7 this November, and the other just turned 4.
My premiums have gone from $126/mo in 2022 to what will now be $290/mo starting in June. So more than 2x increase in 2 years.
Over the years I've had a few emergency vet visits (mostly from ingesting foreign substances) and filed claims. In total they've paid out about $4100.
But now I'm just not sure it's worth it anymore. Changing insurance is probably out of the question for me given the number of past incidents that would probably be considered "pre-existing conditions" now. But paying $3480 a year (and probably will just increase more) feels completely ridiculous.
Should I just cancel the policy and put the money toward a savings account instead? Or is the risk not worth it?
My brain tells me cancel, but it feels like a decision I can't really walk back once I do it.
FBFS - Should I send a letter of intent or file a lawsuit against prior home insurance company?
Looking for advice on dealing with an insurance dispute with prior insurance company.
In July 2023, a hailstorm damaged my home’s Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) that had rolled roofing on them. Company initially agreed the panels needed replacement because rolled roofing couldn’t be reapplied per manufacturer installation guidelines. They first classified it under Ordinance or Law (ORD) coverage.
Later, they changed their stance, saying it wasn’t ORD, but still wouldn’t move it under Dwelling Coverage. They paid $5k but refused to pay the remaining $8,606 for full replacement.
Key points:
• Manufacturer guidelines require panels to be clean and debris-free before rolled roofing can be reinstalled — which wasn’t the case after removal.
• During demo, water intrusion was found. FBFS says they don’t cover “water seepage,” but there’s no proof it existed pre-storm.
• Multiple adjusters were involved. Insurance company hasn’t provided their “expert” who allegedly inspected the panels.
• Delays in their claim process (over 1.5 years) worsened the damage.
At this point, I’m debating whether to send a letter of intent (basically putting them on notice before litigation) to try and get the $8,606 paid, or just go straight to filing a lawsuit for breach of contract/bad faith.
The whole panels had to be replaced because rolled roofing couldn't be reinstalled and needing to get the roof back to pre storm condition. The water intrusion found 1.5 years later has nothing really to do with the initial insurance coverage in my opinion.
Has anyone dealt with this or a similar situation? Did sending a letter of intent work, or did you have to sue to get results? Will they say fine okay it'll cost us more if we do get sued even if we win and decide to pay the $8606 instead?
Next, even though they closed the claim, I'm filling another complaint with the states department of insurance.

Nationwide Pet Insurance - Advice to change insurance for two 4yo cats?
I have two cats, Fox and Ollie. They are brothers and turn four in September.
I got Nationwide Pet Insurance in July 2024 for the first time. I did not notice at the time, but their plans didn't match.
Fox's was $189 for the year, Ollie was $190.
I called to change the renewal policy so it was the same, and to add Behavioral coverage. I wanted to match Ollie's coverage to Fox's, add behavioral.
Fox's renewal, with NO CHANGES, increases by $125/YEAR in July. The woman on the phone said it's "because he is a year older." Lady, he will be FOUR this year. FOUR.
Current: $19/mo > $29/mo
So, recommendations? They are two boys, indoor, vaccines up to date but no recent vet visit.
I'm mildly concerned Ollie has a behavioral issue but no diagnosis and running off vibes and tiktok diagnosis, not real doctors. I am going to wait to take him to the vet about this until I have the right insurance policy JIC, but SHOULD I even have cat insurance?!?!
Otherwise, they're two healthy young cats. Indoor. Thoughts?
Kaiser Permanente - healthcare marketplace help?
Hi!
So I've enrolled into healthcare marketplace back in November, and I've hit a major health issue since then and my current healthcare provider is absolutely helpless and don't seem to care enough to help me ( I have Kaiser Permanente). Is there anyway I can switch insurances past the deadline (I know its so late now) but I'm quite fed up, and super frustrated. Any advice helps!

Molina - My family is getting kicked off of Medicaid after the tax automation system
I am 21 and the oldest “dependent” on the insurance aside from my parents, we are under Molina/Medicaid. We are a family of five, with 2 minors in the home, our ages are: 50s, 50s, 12, 16, and 21(me). My parents file taxes together for a sole proprietor business that they own.
Earlier in the year, we renewed are insurance and everything went smoothly and we opted to enroll in the system where Molina automatically enters your tax information for you that they receive from the IRS. My parents typically make ~80-90k combined, but after business expenses, taxes, and bills, they only bring home 30-40k a year. Basically, our family lives off of the 30-40k, NOT the bigger number. This hasn’t changed at all in the past few years, nor has it been an issue for our insurance.
However, this year, we received a notice in the mail that none of us are eligible to stay on the insurance and that our insurance ran out on March 31, 2025. While I’m planning on calling Molina soon, I did see that it states that we
made nearly 90k, when that isn’t the case. I think this may be an issue from the automation system not taking the accurate data for us.
Does anyone else have similar issues or can explain my situation?
Edit: my parents’ adjusted gross income is 30-40k for those who may be confused. I’m sorry if I didn’t clarify earlier
Edit 2: I figured out the issue. I got off the phone and it turns out they never received our tax info, so we have to reapply. We’re planning on visiting our county insurance office and they just need some proof of income. Thank you for the comments!
State Farm - Getting low ACV from state farm. Can I do anything?
It's a 2022 Genesis g70 RWD fully loaded prestige package and they offered me 31500. Kelly Blue book gives 31500-36000. Is it worth hiring an appraiser to raise the price? The adjuster doesn't seem to want to budge.
Healthy Paws Pet Insurance - Healthy paws pet insurance
Is it even legal for Healthy Paws pet insurance to increase premiums at almost 200% in CA? This is outrageously high!! Anyone experiencing the same?
